Police tape and blood stains on the ground marked the scene of a stabbing that took the life of a 35-year-old man Saturday night.
Ramon Vasquez was found with a stab wound in the torso. Investigators said he was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Sources told News 12 that the attack happened at 3210 Webster Ave. in front of a pink and green truck that appears to sell cannabis.
A tow truck was seen on Tuesday removing a nearby van from the area.
News 12 spoke to a man named Jeremy, who claims to have known Vasquez.
"I knew him for years. We played handball,” Jeremy said.
Jeremy said his friends owned the cannabis truck and that he would sleep in there often.
He said Vasquez and friends were drinking on Saturday night.
"I don't know what happened. I was fake sleep...my boy told me that my boy was dead, and I ran up," he said.
Jeremy said he saw Vasquez on a stretcher and medics trying to bring him back to life.
The incident was a cause for concern for those who live in the area.
"You got to be a little concerned. Maybe it was just an isolated incident," said a man who wanted to remain anonymous out of fear for his safety.
Detectives said the investigation is still ongoing. No arrests have been made.
