NJ Transit riders will have a chance to share what they think needs improvement on buses and trains. Last week, Gov. Mikie Sherrill issued an executive order giving NJ Transit 45 days to develop an action plan addressing four major categories: cleanliness, safety, accessibility and digital experience. NJ Transit board members are holding three virtual forum sessions for anyone to provide input.
Transit riders at the Westfield station in Union County cited delays and poor communication as some of the problems they face.
"If it can actually get here accurately and timely, that would be awesome," Carmella said.
"There are just too many delays. I was out the last three days, but I got the alerts on my phone. It was like Thursday, Friday, Monday—30-minute delays, 45-minute delays," Joe said. "It just happens way too frequently, and you get to Newark Penn, and you have to make the switch. It's just hundreds of people in a tight corridor, and I think it's reliability that people want more than anything."
The first session will be Tuesday night, March 31, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Two more sessions are scheduled this week: Thursday, April 2, from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and Saturday, April 4, from 9:00-11:00 a.m.
For those unable to attend the virtual sessions, an online survey is available to submit feedback.
