Republican Donald Trump emerged victorious in Tuesday's primary in his home state of New York.
The primary was a pivotal point for both Democratic and Republican candidates, as New York offers big delegate hauls and an opportunity for the front-runners to inch closer to their parties' nominations.
Earlier in the day, Trump cast his ballot at Central Synagogue in New York City.
He campaigned in Buffalo Monday and had quite a slip of the tongue. Trump was referring to the Sept. 11 attacks, but instead got 9/11 confused with the convenience store chain 7-Eleven. He told a crowd, "It's very close to my heart because I was down there, and I watched our police and our firemen down at 7/11, down at the World Trade Center right after it came down, and I saw the greatest people I've ever seen in action."
Ted Cruz, a distant second in the New York polls, was in Pennsylvania ahead of next week's primary there. Republican candidate John Kasich, who held a town hall with supporters in Schenectady, campaigned in Maryland.
