A violent attack in a boy’s bathroom at Minisink Valley High School on Friday landed a student under arrest after another teen was injured during the disturbing ordeal, according to police.

The incident was captured on a student's cellphone and was given to News 12 by a concerned parent. The video seems to show a male teenage victim sliding out from beneath a bathroom stall on his back to escape the attack just before another he’s stomped, kicked and punched in a corner by another male student, while at least three other teens watched on.

No one appears to help him.

State police say the 16-year-old boy was arrested for injuring his classmate and is charged with assault as a juvenile.

Parents say they are upset and that it’s among several recent incidents at the school in Orange County.

“My daughter goes there. There’s been many other things that I hear about a lot. Fighting, ambulances showing up, cops showing up,” says Clifford Donovan, of Slate Hill.

The school district released a statement calling the attack “upsetting and appalling,” saying, “We find this behavior to be completely unacceptable and not representative of what we expect from our students.”

Minisink Valley School District administration didn’t comment on allegations of other recent fights but say student violence of any kind will carry “significant consequences.”

“Parents have to take control of their kids because the violence is out of hand right now,” says Frank Moatimurio, from Bloomingburg. “The bullying and that kind of stuff, it has to stop.”

Following the incident, the district administration is asking parents to remind students of the expected conduct at school and are urging caretakers to regularly check their children’s social media.

State police say the 16-year-old Minisink student injured did require medical care but is expected to be OK.
