An armed suspect in East New York was apprehended with the help of drone technology, according to the NYPD.

Officials say the drone was deployed after police received a report about a dispute involving a firearm along Vandalia Avenue on March 18.

The drone pilot relayed information to patrol officers, who were able to recover the gun dropped by the suspect in a nearby yard.

Police went on to capture 19-year-old Aiden Mckenzie. He now faces charges including criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and harassment.

“This is what modern policing looks like,” said a post on the NYPD Facebook page. “This collaboration between officers on the ground and technology in the air is how we keep guns off our streets.”
