The man behind the Ice Bucket Challenge for Lou Gehrig's disease happens to be from Yonkers.
Pat Quinn was diagnosed with ALS about a year ago. After learning of his diagnosis, he says he made it his personal mission to educate as many people as he could about the neurological disease.
The Ice Bucket Challenge has caught on across the nation, even capturing the attention of "Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon, Justin Timberlake and Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino.
Quinn says he called up some of his close friends, performed the water-dumping act, put it online and says the rest is history.
Quinn started a foundation called "Quinn 4 the Win" that has raised thousands of dollars for ALS research. He says he vows to continue to raise money for research as long as he lives.
