Police find 5 swastikas on Pelham elementary school grounds

Police say swastikas were found on the grounds of a Westchester County elementary school.
According to an incident report, Pelham police responded to a report of graffiti at Hutchinson Elementary School on Sunday. When officers arrived, they searched both playgrounds and found five swastikas written in pencil.
Rabbi Benjamin Resnick says the discovery shocked him.
"It's always upsetting. It's not an isolated incident and antisemitism has been on the rise in the country for a while now," Resnick says.
The report says the words "Hitler" and "India" were also found during the search.
Police say it's unclear how long the graffiti had been there. The writing was removed. Authorities say there was no damage to the school property.
"It's disquieting if [kids are] going to go to the playground and see something ugly and hateful," Resnick says.
Police say no arrests have been made.
This follows at least five other antisemitic incidents that have occurred or have been connected to Westchester County schools since September.
"In this day and age, we have a lot of division in our country and it's got to stop," says resident Charless Falciglia.
Officials from the school district "condemn these acts of hate" and say they will continue to provide an inclusive school environment to the best of their ability.
