Yonkers church building fire causes road closures, traffic diversions in the city

Presently, the only remaining closure is Marlborough Road between Fowler Ave. and Lockwood Ave, as confirmed by the Yonkers Police Department.

A morning fire at the rectory of a Yonkers church resulted in the closure of several roads, causing disruptions to traffic flow across the city.

The main road affected was Lockwood Avenue between Rossiter Avenue and Stone Avenue, along with closures on Glen Hill Avenue, Buckingham Road, Wickes Avenue, Dartmouth Avenue, Gavin Street, and Jessamine Avenue.

Most roads have reopened following the extinguishing of the flames. Presently, the only remaining closure is Marlborough Road between Fowler Ave. and Lockwood Ave, as confirmed by the Yonkers Police Department.

Authorities continue to advise motorists to avoid this area.
