The Westchester County Department of Health is working in conjunction with the state to offer rapid COVID-19 testing at Open Door Family Medical Center in Port Chester, as COVID-19 cases are on the rise there.
Doctors at Open Door say the goal of rapid testing is to stop the spread. The sooner a patient finds out they have tested positive for COVID-19, the sooner they can quarantine.
As of Nov. 5, there were nearly 34,000 total COVID-19 cases in Westchester; 1,433 active cases and 132 new cases.
In Port Chester, there are 1,534 total cases, 96 active cases and 15 new cases.
Many of the people who tested positive, found out after going to Open Door.
"Ten to  positivity, where the state average is running about 4%-5%," says Dr. Thomas Yuen, of the Open Door Family Medical Center.
Rapid Testing at Open Door in Port Chester runs from Thursday through Saturday. An appointment is needed.
"We're asking anyone that may be exposed, that they feel any symptoms, to come right away and not wait days and days, so that they can warn their family with these rapid results," says Dr. Yuen.
