After 34 years, the popular store Wondrous Things on Pleasantville Road in Briarcliff Manor will be closing its doors.
At Wondrous Things in Briarcliff Manor, the customer experience has always been paramount.
"I don't need the sale, I'd rather you be happy with what you're purchasing," says the store's owner, Donald Borho.
And with that business model, he's built up quite the clientele in the 34 years since the store's been open.
The store is stuffed with trinkets, tchotchkes and knick-knacks. Cards, body washes, lotions, holiday decor...the list goes on and on.
"Its always the go-to store for a gift or a shirt or something to take to someone's house that night," says Jane Ragals, a loyal customer for the last 30 years.
But after 34 years, wondrous things is closing - the pandemic's latest victim.
They say they just can't compete with online sites like Amazon.
"It was a hard decision to make," Borho says. But a necessary one.
"I was very very sad, I was very surprised on one level on another level not surprised because I know what's happening in today's world with businesses," said customer Jill Greenstein .
But before they close their doors for good, they had to get rid of all their inventory!
Thursday was the first day of their Everything Must Go sale, everything in the store is 25% off -- until inventory is depleted.
