Officials say a sewer main break in Hartsdale from 2024 likely won't be fixed until next year.
The break happened Memorial Day weekend of 2024 on East Hartsdale Avenue. Since then, the Town of Greenburgh has been working to get it fixed.
“I hope we can kind of sooner or later have some resolution to this, but it is a difficult procedure that has to be done," said Hartsdale resident Antal Viczian.
Town Supervisor Paul Feiner said it’s a complicated and expensive process.
“You don’t have many sewer breaks 30 feet under a building. If it’s not done correctly, you could have structural problems for the building," Feiner said.
Feiner says they are getting closer.
“We’re doing basically two bids. One bid which is out right now, we’re asking engineers if they can come up with a plan that would be less costly and quicker. At the same time, we’re continuing to finalize the plans that we’ve been working on for over a year," said Feiner.
He expects the work to be done next spring.
While some who live in the area are frustrated, others tell us their focus is on the light at the end of the tunnel.
“I don’t think there has been any major problems really aside from the parking spots being taken up. I think overall, they’ve been doing a very good job," Hartsdale resident Linda Williams told News 12.
