A recent graduate of the Solomon Schechter School of Long Island in Williston Park is among the hostages that were taken during the attacks on Israel, according to a rabbi with the Merrick Jewish Centre.

Rabbi Josh Dorsch made the announcement on Monday during a “Stand With Israel” service at the center.

Israeli officials say that Hamas and other militant groups are holding about 150 soldiers and civilian’s hostage.

Israel has hammered neighborhoods in Gaza for the attack by Hamas. The overall death toll has reached at least 1,600.

News 12’s Caroline Flynn was at the school in Williston Park on Tuesday. Some parents told News 12 they were concerned for their children's safety.

Nassau police officers were present during this morning’s drop off. A few parents stayed to direct other parents to drop students off in the back of the school.

The age and name of the recent graduate has yet to be disclosed. The school also told News 12 that they are not commenting on the subject at this time.

News 12 has placed phone calls to congressional leaders and the White House, who have not yet confirmed if any Hamas hostages are Americans.

The Merrick Jewish Centre also says the family of the apparent hostage is asking for privacy as they deal with the unimaginable.
