A pregnant woman whose day started out like any other recalls the moments it took a scary turn while she was out Wednesday in Yonkers.
The woman, who is pregnant with twins, says she was getting off the bus when she heard gunshots. She says she started walking really fast to get home.
Police say the shooting happened inside a bodega near Elm and Linden streets around 2 p.m. Police say a task force engaged with suspects in front of the bodega. The suspects then went inside the bodega. Police say Det. Brian Menton was shot by one of the suspects, who died from his injuries after he was shot by an FBI agent.
The woman says it's not the first time she's been caught in the crossfire. There have been two police-involved shootings so far in Yonkers this year and she was nearby for both.
