A local lawmaker wants to rename Westchester County Airport for Al DelBello, a former county executive and lieutenant governor.
DelBello also served as Yonkers mayor.
County Legislator Ken Jenkins is leading the effort to rename the airport.
"He did so many things getting the county's transportation system up and going," Jenkins says. "To memorialize him in this way would be a tremendous honor for him, and he deserves it."
Jenkin's proposal to rename the airport after DelBello is scheduled to go before a committee in the county Legislature this week.
