Operations to shift the Rockland-bound traffic on the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge have begun.
Officials say four lanes of Rockland-bound traffic moved over to the opposite side of the concrete median on the bridge.
The new pattern, which began last night, is only temporary. It's going to allow crews to construct the bridge's bicycle and pedestrian path and six outlooks.
Officials say motorists traveling north and west should plan for multiple lane closures and delays as workers restructure the landings.
In the Westchester-bound direction, no lane closures are planned.
The bridge is still an active construction work zone, so the speed limit is 45 miles per hour.
