An early morning fire destroyed an historic building in Mechanicstown today.
Fire officials say the flames broke out at the former Ontario and Western rail station on Dunning Road around 4:15 a.m. They say it took about an hour and around 35 firefighters to put the blaze out.
Officials says the building been vacant since 2001 after a restaurant closed down there.
Orange County Fire's Task Force and the state police are now investigating the cause of the blaze.
