A father and daughter from Ulster County are facing charges for allegedly stealing nearly $300,000 from an elderly victim.
The attorney general says Frank Whittaker and Christine Ellsworth gained the trust of a 92-year-old victim in 2021.
Whittaker allegedly convinced the victim to make him power of attorney, allowing them access to the victim’s life savings.
Over the course of a year, the two are accused of using about $280,000 to gamble at a casino, buy a new truck and clothes.
Both Whittaker and Ellsworth have been charged with grand larceny and face up to 15 years in prison.
