The Yorktown community is rallying against a proposed law that would prohibit ATVs and e-bikes from town streets, roads, parks, and trails.
This initiative comes in response to an incident last August when a Yorktown father, Ed Moffet, was struck by an ATV at Hunter Brook Field.
Moffet has been vocal about the necessity of such a law.
Exceptions to the ban would be granted if a user had written permission from the town or in areas with signs explicitly permitting their use.
However, e-bike users argue that they should not be grouped together with ATVs, and officials are contemplating separating the two categories. Should the proposed law be enacted, e-bike users found in violation would face strict fines.
