Yonkers police are stepping up patrols in the vicinity of two violent crimes committed Wednesday night.
News 12 previously reported that a man was hospitalized after being stabbed on Linden Street, and another shot and killed on Waverly Street, about a block away.
"I can tell you that we are not going to tolerate this type of violent activity in our neighborhoods, and we are aggressively pursuing those individuals responsible," said police Commissioner Charles Gardner.
A mobile command center was deployed to the Southern Nodine Hill neighborhood as an easily recognizable sign of the increased patrols.
The tactic, part of a special program for troubled neighborhoods, has helped reduce robberies by 44 percent, according to officials.
