Athletes will tough it out during next weekend's Toughman Triathlon in the Hudson Valley - but drivers say endurance will also be tested during the massive traffic tie-ups.
The event will be held Sunday, Sept. 13. Westchester officials say they're shutting down Route 9A from Peekskill to Ossining to clear a way for bikers during the event. This has some residents sweating it out.
"It does tend to be pretty annoying on that day," says Croton resident Chris Straub. "It's like you know you're going to be stuck staying home and if you do try to go anywhere it takes forever."
However, participants like David Liebowitz, of Bronxville, say the inconvenience is just once a year.
"For us to at least be able to enjoy having bikes on the road it's necessary to at least close it. We're only asking once a year."
