A pilot program in northern Westchester is providing help for victims of domestic violence.

Community leaders gathered at the Pound Ridge Town Hall Wednesday to announce the two-year program called the New Dawn Advocacy and Resource Center.

The New York State Office for the Prevention of Domestic Violence is funding the program.

The program provides safety and counseling for abuse victims in northern Westchester. Law enforcement officers say it will also assist them in fighting domestic abuse.

“We will quickly identify high-risk cases and bring tremendous resources to the District Attorney's Office, Justice Center, My Sister's Place and Hope's Door,” says Pound Ridge Police Chief Dave Ryan.

Ryan says his officers have investigated nearly 10 domestic violence homicides in the past five years.
