Cadets at the United States Military Academy at West Point celebrated the completion of their basic training on Monday.
More than 1,200 cadets were met with signs and songs of celebration as they marched past the academy's leadership. The group officially finished their training with a 12-mile march from Camp Buckner back to West Point.
Cadet Eugene Coleman, a senior at West Point, is the school's newly selected first captain, assigned to help train new cadets in history and basic military tasks like shooting and rappelling.
Proud parents and family members flew in from around the country to show their support for the cadets. One parent says the cadets were able to call home three times during the rigorous, six-week training period.
