Police have charged twin brothers in the armed robbery of the Mobil Station on Nepperhan Avenue early Sunday morning.

According to police, 22-year-olds Justin and John Dangelo barged into the gas station at about 5:45 a.m., pointed a hunting rifle at the teenage clerk behind the register and demanded cash. Sam Khoury, who owns the station, said the clerk did the right thing by handing over the money and the register tray.

Though they made off with the cash, the brothers were caught on surveillance video, which police officers examined to identify the suspects. Officers later arrested the two men in Yonkers. With them, police say they found the cash, the register tray, two crack pipes and the rifle. Justin was charged with first-degree robbery, criminal use of a firearm and second-degree assault, while John was charged with tampering with evidence, criminal use of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.

According to Khoury, this is the first robbery at the gas station since it opened 20 years ago.
