Hospitals across the Hudson Valley treating Orange County bus crash victims

The crash prompted a massive response at Westchester Medical Center. A code triage was sounded, which signals they are about to receive multiple patients at once. A trained group of 50+ clinical specialist and support responded immediately.

Westchester Medical Center, the sole Level One Trauma Center in the Hudson Valley, is treating 12 victims.

Originally, three students were taken to the facility. Hospital officials say that a total of 12 people were taken to the center, and the majority of victims are at the Maria Fareri Children's Hospital.

Four of the 12 patients have been released, and eight remain at the center. Three are said to be in critical condition.

Nassau County Executive Brue Blakeman says one adult and six children are at Garnet Health System in Middletown, and St. Lukes in Newburgh has one adult.

Westchester Medical Center also has a team of specialists providing information for family members of the injured and also emotional support.

A bus carrying 40 Farmingdale High School marching band students and four chaperones veered off the road Thursday afternoon in Orange County, claiming two lives.

The Farmingdale mayor says one girl who is a junior fire fighter was airlifted to Cohen Children's Medical Center late last night from Westchester Medical Center. Another junior firefighter, who is a boy, was released from Westchester Medical Center this morning - he had severe lacerations.

News 12's Kevin Vesey was live at Westchester Medical Center, a level one trauma center, where three patients from the crash are being cared for.

News 12's Diane Caruso was live at the reunification center that was set up for the parents of students who were uninjured in the crash.

News 12 Investigative Reporter Rachel Yonkunas took a look at the record of Regency Transportation, the bus company whose vehicle, was involved in the rollover.

The band was heading to Pine Forest Camp, in Greeley, Pennsylvania. In a statement released Friday, the camp said, “Our hearts go out to the families affected by this terrible accident and we express our heartfelt thanks to those first responders who aided in the rescue. Many organizations rent our camp facilities throughout the year. Farmingdale High School Band has been a wonderful and welcomed group that has rented our camp for many years.”
