Obi Nwoye, owner of The Partners Gym in Thornwood, says the goal is to avoid crowds and to control droplet transmission by limiting the amount of people touching the equipment.

"We're going to limit our capacity from 24 down to 12 in a class," says Nwoye. "At 12, we're able to create segmented zones, for each person with all the equipment they need, separated six feet apart. After the class, our strategy now…is to come in and disinfect everything that was touched, so that we can start a new class again."

Patrons of the Thornwood gym will have their temperature checked at the door before entering. As well, there will be no more towel service or protein shake bar.
Tasia Sabatino, the owner of Rebel Yoga in Thornwood, is also adapting to a new normal as she prepares to reopen her studio. She says people attending her yoga classes will be asked to bring their own mats and water.

Additionally, Sabatino says the gym plans on, "limiting our class sizes, and only offering online bookings at this time. Our waiting room is going to be closed, our showers will be closed."

Both owners say they're changing schedules to give them more time to cleanup between classes.
