We're feeling the pinch almost everywhere, and for everything we need. From gas to groceries -- prices are sky high.

The holiday spending is in full gear now as shoppers try to find deals on gifts, travel and décor. But it’s the groceries and the gas that’s taking a big bite out of our budget.

Caleb Silver, of Investopedia, says there may be a slight sign of relief - but not enough.

“The good news is inflation is starting to slow down nationwide. And in the New York and New Jersey areas, it went from 6.2% to 6% in September on an annual  basis," Silver says. "The bad news is that we're still seeing inflation pretty much where we spend money every week and every month.”

This is what the data shows:

The utilities that pipe gas into our homes are up over 24%. Cereals and bakery products are over 16.7%. Private transportation - Uber and Lyft - is up 10.4% year over year. And food at home, grocery shopping, that's still up over 10%.
