A Red Hook man is facing charges, accused of falsely reporting an incident involving a state trooper, according to New York State Police.

Officials say Daniel Anderson began filming the trooper while being interviewed regarding an unrelated incident at his home.

They say he later altered an image from that video and posted it to social media with a caption wrongfully accusing the trooper of perversion and voyeurism.

The post caused public alarm and negatively impacted the trooper’s family, according to state police.

Authorities say Anderson was arrested and issued an appearance ticket. He is scheduled to appear in court on March 26 in Red Hook.
