Although power is restored to an apartment complex in Croton-On-Hudson, tempers are still hot over the outage that residents says happens too often.
Nine out of 36 buildings at the Amberland apartment complex lost power Monday around 7 p.m. Crews subcontracted by Con Edison accidentally hit a power line that was mislabeled while trying to excavate a gas line. Power was restored after 4 a.m. Tuesday, but then workers accidentally hit the power line again. The second outage occurred around 7:30 a.m. and was restored just after 2 p.m.
The property houses 81 residents and several small businesses. Property manager Paula Riley claims it is not the first time the complex has experienced power problems. The owner of a mortgage company in the complex says he is still catching up on lost business due to the outage. Many others say they have personal losses, including food that went bad.
A Con Edison spokesperson says that tenants can submit claims for their losses and they will be evaluated by the company.
