Students at SUNY Purchase are banding together to fight back against messages of hate smeared across their campus.
There is a stepped-up police presence on the campus this week after the discovery of hateful vandalism in the freshman dorms.
The discovery of spray-painted swastikas and nooses in several freshman dormitories were found just 48 hours apart.
According to an email sent to students by the college president, there is a coordinated plan to restore a sense of safety and balance to the campus.
An emergency meeting was held Monday evening to brief students on the hateful graffiti and the college's next steps.
The school is also hosting an open community meeting tomorrow afternoon on campus for concerned students, faculty and alumni.
In addition to the meetings, the college has brought in police to monitor the vandalized dorms all night and day.
Campus police say tips are pouring in and that they are working closely with the DA's office to track down the vandals.
