Town of Montgomery police say a student was cut with a razor blade during a fight at Valley Central High School on Thursday.
Authorities say the physical altercation involved two students and resulted in injuries to both. School resource officers, security guards, and the district’s director of security immediately responded, according to officials.
An ambulance was called, but police say neither student was transported to the hospital at that time. A 14-year-old student was later taken by a parent or guardian for treatment.
According to police, a 15-year-old male student was arrested and charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon. He was issued an appearance ticket to appear in family court and released to a parent or guardian.
Superintendent Evette Avila said in a message to families that the district takes acts of violence “extremely seriously” and is cooperating with law enforcement in the investigation.
Town of Montgomery police are asking anyone with information to contact Detective Daniel Thorson at 845-457-9211.
