Harrison firefighter who worked at Ground Zero dies at 67 after service-related illness

A longtime firefighter has died in Harrison after an illness related to his service at Ground Zero following the 9/11 attacks.

Kenneth Fusco died Monday, according to the Harrison Fire Department.

Fusco served with the department for 45 years and helped with rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero for months after the attacks.

The fire chief said Fusco will be remembered as a pillar of the community with a kind heart and a generous nature.

Fusco was 67 years old.
