The Rockland County sheriff defended his name to News 12 Monday after people criticized an article he shared on his personal Facebook page.
"I work very well with the community. All communities," said Sheriff Louis Falco.
The article, entitled "Racist Black Thugs Shoot White Baby in the Face for the Fun of It," is about an incident that occurred in 2013.
Falco said he shared the post by mistake and that he meant to share it through Facebook Messenger privately.
Wilbur Aldridge, with the NAACP, says the content is especially concerning because he is a public servant appointed to serve the people.
News 12 reached out to the Rockland County Executive's Office but has not heard back.
