Road conditions in Rockland County are showing show vast improvement after a storm dumped heavy rain on region
In Palisades, a fallen tree that obstructed Closter Road, caused substantial disruption for drivers overnight. Police directed traffic around the closed section of the road because of the blockage, impacting travel in the vicinity.
An additional concern was the intersection of Saddle River Road and Old Nyack Turnpike in Monsey, particularly under the New York State Thruway overpass. Cars navigating through floodwaters created significant splashes, contributing to hazardous conditions in the area.
The rainfall persisted until approximately 8 a.m. before gradually subsiding. Traffic flow notably improved across several busy sections, including the Thruway and Route 59.
Officials say that roads continue to dry up, caution is advised, especially on smaller backroads where residual leaves may create slippery surfaces.
