A national survey of all 50 states has ranked New York the best for teen drivers for the third consecutive year.
The WalletHub study analyzed factors including fatal accidents, driver’s education availability and impaired driving laws.
The study used data from sources like the U.S. Census Bureau, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, the Governors Highway Safety Association and the American Automobile Association.
New York did well in multiple categories. The study says the state had the fourth-fewest teen driver fatalities per capita, the fourth-lowest percentage of drivers using phones and the third-lowest prevalence or poor turning.
The study named New York second in the overall safety category, losing only to New Jersey.
