Stephenson Boulevard has reopened in New Rochelle after repairs were finished late Monday night on a water main break near Palmer Avenue.
The break happened late Monday morning and left part of the road closed while crews worked in frigid conditions.
Officials told News 12 the cold weather likely contributed to the break, saying this is the time of year when these issues happen more often.
“The ground as it freezes, is swelling. It's basically squeezing the pipes,” said Sophia Salis with Veolia New York.

Officials also said they receive more calls for pipes bursting inside homes during extreme cold.
“Keep the cabinets open so the piping underneath can get some of the ambient warmth of the house and just keep their faucet on a light trickle,” Salis said.
Some were without water, and others nearby briefly saw discolored water.
No boil water advisory is in effect.
