Driver critically hurt after Jeep became submerged in Lake Mahopac is dead

The driver of a Jeep that ended up submerged in an icy Lake Mahopac on Monday night has died.

Carmel police say the 55-year-old woman from Somers died at Putnam Hospital Center.

Witnesses say the driver entered the lake from Swan Cove.

Police found the vehicle fully submerged 30 yards off shore.

The Mahopac Falls Fire Department, police and EMS extricated her. She was unresponsive.

Her name had not been released as of Tuesday night.
