Elmsford parents raise alarms over staff turnover, morale concerns in schools

Concerns are mounting in the Elmsford School District, where parents say a pattern of staff turnover, low morale and alleged forced resignations is impacting students — particularly those in special education.
One concerned parent told News 12 her child struggled after multiple staffing changes left classrooms without consistent leadership.
“He got out of the school four times,” she said, describing a series of incidents that led to her child being moved from full-day school to half days and eventually home instruction.
The Elmsford PTSA held a private virtual meeting Monday night to give members a chance to share concerns and discuss the next steps. Parents say the meeting reflects growing frustration over what they describe as a lack of transparency and communication from district leaders.
“There was so much influx and change… a lack of communication,” said parent and advocate Lauren Scott.
Families say stability in the classroom is critical and worry that frequent staffing changes are disrupting learning — despite praise for individual teachers.
The district declined to comment.
The PTSA is now encouraging families to attend Wednesday’s school board meeting, which is open to the public.
