A memorial service was held Thursday in Scarsdale, five years after a Yonkers firefighter was killed on the job.
Patrick Joyce, 39, died after he and two other firefighters were forced to jump out of a third-story window while battling a fire at an apartment building. The two other firefighters were seriously hurt.
The service was held at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Scarsdale. Joyce's brother, Pete Joyce, says his brother was a quiet man, but never turned down a chance to help others.
Joyce is survived by his wife and two daughters.
