Baby bear sighting near Edgemont schools prompts lockout
Greenburgh police say they received a report about a "baby bear" in the area of Crane's Pond and Artillery Lane at 9:38 a.m. Friday.

A bear cub has been spotted near an Edgemont school on Friday morning.
Greenburgh police say they received a report about a "baby bear" in the area of Crane's Pond and Artillery Lane at 9:38 a.m. Friday.
Both Edgemont High School and Seely Place Elementary School were placed in a lockout as a precaution.
The DEC was called in and determined the bear was not a threat.
The bear was left undisturbed and sleeping in the tree.
Officials remind the community that if they see a bear, do not approach it, keep a safe distance, and keep pets indoors.
