yesterdayA Saugerties man is facing DWI charges after police he was swerving on and off the roadway in a U-Haul truck on Blue Mountain Road Wednesday.
Police say a witness saw Kenneth Beams, 61, nearly strike two mailboxes and a fence, then veering back onto the roadway and into oncoming traffic.
Police eventually found the U-Haul on Pine Tree Lane in the Town of Saugerties, and Beams allegedly tried to flee from officers. A brief foot chase ensued, with Beams being taken into custody without further incident.
Investigators say Beams' blood alcohol level was at .21%.
Beams was previously charged with DWI in June 2022, resulting in the revocation of his operating privileges.
