Changes are being made to Mamaroneck Avenue after a fatal accident in June claimed the lives of a mother and her 6-year-old son.
In response to community pressure, the village has already trimmed trees, planned changes to village code, and will repaint crosswalks. Additional measures under consideration include adjusting traffic light patterns and installing cameras, but those will take longer to complete.
A report with new details about the accident is expected by the end of the month.
The changes aim to improve pedestrian safety before the new school year starts on September 3.
