A Rye Brook police sergeant is facing third-degree attempted assault charges
According to the complaint, the altercation took place on June 28 around 9:45 p.m. at Onatru Farm Park in Lewisboro, where the town was hosting its 25th annual fireworks special.
News 12 spoke with Elisabeth Cavanagh, of Lewisboro, who says she was the victim.
"A car drove past my daughter and I. She made some sort of audible noise that led me to recognize she was not quite right. It was either an 'ow' or a 'ma.' The car that had driven past us was driving way too fast for the circumstances and of course, there was a lot of traffic and he got stopped in traffic. So I jumped the two or three feet to his car and I banged on the side window," said Cavanagh.
She says Damore then got out of the car to confront her.
"Put both of his hands, around my neck, cursed at me, and threw me against a pickup truck that was right behind me and held me there and then grabbed my arm and in the process hit my face so that my glasses ended up broken," she says.
News 12 waited outside court Monday following the arraignment to speak with Damore but his lawyer had no comment.
An official with Rye Brook police confirmed that Damore has been with the department since 2011, but was unable to provide any more comments.
A new court date has been set for Aug. 18.
Damore pleaded not guilty the charge.
