Rockland County shops aim to cash in on Small Business Saturday
Many local shops around Rockland County are taking part in Small Business Saturday.
Many local shops around Rockland County are taking part in Small Business Saturday.
The Runcible Spoon Bakery on North Broadway in Nyack specializes in all types of desserts and delicious pastries. Jose M., the shop manager, says it has been there for 20 years and hopes that shoppers continue to support them this holiday season.
"We're trying to get the business up a little bit," he said. "[We've been] working hard every single day [for] the customers coming here."
Employees from The Quilt Tree on South Broadway in Nyack said they were also looking for shoppers to stop by and support them.
"It's a wonderful community for people who love quilting and sewing," said employee Shelley Stricker. "We carry a full line of all different fabrics and notions.”
She said the shopping experience at small businesses doesn't compare to what people can get online.
"It's nice to have some place where you can [interact] face-to-face, where you can share your enjoyment, where you can touch something," Stricker said.
