The American Sugar Refining facility in Yonkers will be closing at the end of this year.

The owner of the Yonkers refinery released a statement to confirm that the 130-year-old facility would close by Dec, 31, 2025.

Their statement said in part, "We have a wonderful, skilled team of employees, and we are committed to providing robust support to them during this transition through job placement assistance, relocation to other ASR facilities and further resources. We have been proud to be a member of the Yonkers community."

American Sugar Refinery says there are 300 employees. It says the refinery has been operating since the 1800s and has many challenges.
