Westchester County's unsettled battle over affordable housing took center stage in the race for governor.
Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino is demanding Gov. Andrew Cuomo apologize for siding with HUD over a federal housing settlement.
Cuomo had told a reporter that he had no reason to disagree with federal findings that New Castle is one of the towns the federal government says is restrictive in zoning.
"If Andrew Cuomo thinks that the community he lives in is discriminatory and segregated, then why does he choose to live here?" asks Astorino.
Just this week, the Department of Housing and Urban Development took away $5 million in community block grants for the county's failure to comply. This adds up to more than $20 million in losses since 2011.
News 12 tried to contact the governor's office for a response, but was unsuccessful.
