The U.S. just reported the second-deadliest day since the beginning of the pandemic.
Over 3,400 people died Tuesday according to Johns Hopkins University. It's the fifth time the country has seen more than 3,000 COVID-19 deaths in a single day. All five of those days came this month.
More than 322,000 Americans have died since the beginning of the pandemic.
The numbers across New York also paint a grim story.
Of the more than 164,000 tests to come back Monday, over 9,700 were positive.  That's a statewide infection rate of 5.89%.
Sadly, 139 more New Yorkers have died from the virus, including 6 people in Westchester.
