A rabid beaver was captured on Tuesday at the Tivoli Bays Wildlife Management Area, prompting Dutchess County officials to warn residents to be aware of their surroundings when visiting the area.
Residents are advised to watch for wildlife acting aggressively and to exercise caution when engaging in activities such as paddleboarding.
If direct contact has been made with a beaver in the area, residents are advised to contact the Behavioral and Community Health Department.
