The spotted lanternfly problem in parts of New York has grown so widespread that residents no longer need to report sightings.
Researchers shared a map during a webinar showing areas where the insects are present in such large numbers that tracking is no longer necessary.
The map highlights Westchester, Dutchess, Orange, Rockland, Sullivan and Ulster counties.
Experts say each egg mass contains 30 to 35 lanternflies.
Blackened mold on plants is a sign the insects have been in the area, as the fungus grows on their waste.
