Hundreds of parents in Rockland made their concerns known at a meeting Wednesday over a decision to extend the school day an extra two hours.
An informational meeting was held at Pomona Middle School for parents, who just recently learned that their children will be in school until 5:21 p.m. instead of 3:14 p.m. this upcoming school year.
The school is one of nine in the state that received millions of dollars in grant money to make the extension happen.
Some parents are angry that they were just recently notified and weren't told as the idea was coming down the pipeline. Other parents say those who are angry should give the program a chance.
Organizers say the extension is part of an effort to give students as many skills as possible as well as ready them for high school and college.
About 700 students will take part in program beginning Sept. 4.
