Police are searching for a suspect who was captured by a surveillance camera during a robbery of a Capital One bank branch in White Plains Thursday.

Authorities say the incident happened just before noon, when the suspect came into the bank, located at 9 Mamaroneck Ave., walked up to the teller and calmly passed a note demanding cash.

"He basically demanded money and threatened violence, but he didn't display a weapon or anything like that," says White Plains Deputy Police Commissioner Daniel Jackson.

The robber asked the teller to put $200,000 into a small bag, which he then stuffed into a larger white bag before fleeing the scene. A surveillance camera captured the man walking east down Mamaroneck Avenue.

The suspect is described as a stocky man between the ages of 25 and 35. He was last seen wearing a maroon T-shirt and dark pants.

"It may be someone that has worked here," Jackson says. "It may be someone who lives in the city."

Detectives continue to interview bank employees and the lone customer that was inside the bank during the robbery.
